On October 16, 2011, Elton and I visited the 9/11 Memorial.

This photo
came out
dark due to
the harsh
sun.

There are two pools, a North Pool and a South Pool.  The North Pool displays the names of the victims of the World
Trade Center North building, the February 26, 1993 attempt, and Flight 11.  The South Pool displays the names of the
victims of the World Trade Center South building, First Responders, Flight 95, Flight 77, the Pentagon and Flight 175
.
The building below will be a museum.
North Pool - The high winds caused the cascading water
to splash over the sides!
The tree that won't die.  This tree was found in the old
site, removed and replanted.  The tree began to sprout
new limbs and is now part of the Memorial.

The following photos were taken inside the 9/11 Memorial Preview Site on Vesey Street.
This location no longer exists.  For information about the 9/11 Memorial, please click

The photo at left, and the two directly above it, is from
a display showing what the buildings and area will
look like once completed.

The bike above was donated to the Museum by a
brother of one of the victims, who liked to ride.

The following photos were taken in and around St. Paul's Chapel on Vesey Street and Broadway.
Contains the names of everyone who perished on 9/11 -
planes, PA, Pentagon and World Trade Center.

On October 29, 2011, I took a trip with L&M Tours to East Earl, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.   The first stop would be
Shady Maple Smorgasbord for lunch (food was good, lots to choose from), a visit to the Shady Maple Farm
(a supermarket close to the restaurant), with our final stop being Kitchen Kettle.

When we left New York City, it was cloudy and cold.  It was raining heavily by the time we got to our rest stop in
New Jersey.  Reaching Exit 312 in Pennsylvania, it began to snow!  It snowed the rest of the trip and got colder
and windy.  Most of the passengers wanted to skip Kitchen Kettle and return home after lunch.  It was decided to
continue with the tour.  There were few cars on the road.  When we got to Kitchen Kettle, it was empty and most
of the stores were closed.   On our return trip I noticed that New Jersey's roads did not have as much snow as in
PA, and once off the bus on Queens Boulevard, I was surprised to see even less snow.  It appears the rain that
followed washed most of the snow away.

Mums of all colors for sale outside Shady Maple.
This and the  next two photos were taken inside the gift
shop, which is enormous.   The frosted look on sides
of this photo was due to fact that it was very cold outside
and the camera lens fogged up.

Kitchen Kettle never seen this empty!
