Frederiksted, Street By Street - Page 20

This is my attempt to make a record of the buildings now standing in Frederiksted, St. Croix.
I walked from street to street, taking photos of everything I saw.  I walked the streets running
north to south and when I got to an intersection, I took photos of the buildings on the streets
running east to west.
I began my trek on Mars Hill and ended with Strand Street.
Ritter's property.  Was once a nightclub.  First Smalls,
then Sheridan, Mars Hill
.
Baptist church, Mars Hill.  Pastor Buba (name?) would
invite us in, even without shoes on.  He started the
church lower down, in the Peña's residence.

When I was growing up on St. Croix, there was a wooden
one story structure that was divided into apartments on
this empty lot.

After that it's Queen Cross.  Lot to left has always been empty
as far back as I can recall.  The playground for Harrigan and the
post office border the empty lot.

Additional Photos
Before the whitewash  was added.  Looks more pink
than red. This photo taken in August 2008.
The manual pump was used to get water out of the well.   Wells were located
throughout Frederiksted.  Later, faucets were set up throughout the town and

used to get water instead of the wells.  I do not remember  getting water from
these wells but do remember the faucets.
