Views of Manhattan - Page LL

The following photos were taken from Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center).
Views  of Manhattan can be seen from the 68th, 69th, and 70th Floors.
Also see
Page XX.
Southeastern view: MetLife Building (which was a heliport for Pan Am Airlines for many years), and the Chrysler
Building on the left side.

Southwestern view.  Smack center of left photo is Times Square.  At right you can see the Ball above the year 2009!

Southern view - The Empire State Building.

Southwestern view.  Here you can see Liberty Island (1), Ellis Island (2) and parts
of New Jersey (3) surrounded by Hudson River (4). Every place one looks there
is a building being constructed!
A northern view.  Central Park, upper Manhattan.
The lake in Central Park.  The white specks on the lower left corner
are people on the grass.  The buildings are on Central Park West.
A northwestern view.  Here you can see upper Manhattan, the George
Washington Bridge, parts of New Jersey and the Hudson River.
Left - A northwestern view, with parts of New Jersey (1).  The building with the diamond shape glass exterior (2) is on
57th St. & 8th Ave., Hearst Bldg.  Building marked (3) is the Time Warner Building, Columbus Circle.
Right - An eastern view.  Here you can see the slanted CitiCorp (Group) building and parts of Queens.
Eastern view with CitiCorp buildings in view, one in Manhattan (1)  the other in Queens (2).  The red and white
towers (3) are part of Keyspan, an electrical plant.  The 59th Street Bridge (Queensboro Bridge, 4) can be seen in
photo at right.  (Now the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge.)

In and around Times Square.  Neon and billboards all over the place!
The new way to relax in Times
Square - on the street!  Parts of
the area closed off to cars.

The following photos taken January 7, 2010 during my lunch break.
Plastered all over the mezzanine of the 42nd Street/Bryant Park subway station are ads about not being able to
outsmart stupid.  Lower right corner reads, "Diesel - For Successful Living".   Photos shot with different settings.

The controversial billboard with President Obama.  Mr. Obama did not give
his consent to have his image used for this ad nor does he want viewers
to think he's promoting Weatherproof products.  The billboard is over
Red Lobster in Times Square close to 41st Street.
I added the DEMO to the photo.

I had to set the date on the camera a few times.  Too cold?
Weak battery?   I incorrectly entered 2009.
The date on the above photo & the few that follow should have read
01/07/2010.
The frozen fountain in Bryant Park .  There was a small
trickle of water coming out of the fountain but most of
it froze as it came down the sides.  Also see
Page HHHH.

The two individuals in the photo eventually  turned their
backs to the fountain and threw a coin into the water.
Above is Citi Pond (a skating rink) in Bryant Park.
To the right is a shot of Times Square, looking north
from 42nd Street.

Again, the date should have read 01/07/2010.
