Today, a cloudy day, I decided to go to Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Flushing. The photos I took during my walk can be seen below. Hope you like. You can also click here and under the first Unisphere (yellow band) for more information. |

| NY State Pavilion, Observation Towers and Theater |

The floor of the 1964 New York State Pavilion consisted of a terrazzo map of New York. For many years most of the map was still visible. An incredible site. The map contained the major highways of New York State. A few years ago, I read that the tiles were going to be restored. I don't know if it was ever done or if the tiles are still in the Pavilion. Recently, the Pavilion has been declared a state landmark. After years of neglect, the entrances to the Pavilion were closed to the public to safeguard the few tiles that remained and to avoid possible accidents. |

Below are a few photos of the morning glories on my terrace. High winds and a frigid evening on September 10th, destroyed most of the leaves but the flowers continued to bloom! |

| Don't know from where this plant came. The flowers are white with a touch of pink on the petals. They are about 1/2 inch in diameter, open in the morning and close as soon as the sun hits them! Could the plant be related to Morning Glory? Were they delivered by a bird or came with the soil? |

Just found an interesting site. Click here. Once you get to the site, click on Neighborhoods in the side menu. Once in Neighborhoods, choose the neighborhood you want to see from the list. Many interesting photos. You can see some before/after photos. As a matter of fact, under Rego Park I saw a photo of the Howard Johnson that was on the corner of Junction and Queens Boulevards. Today, there is an office building on the site. |
