| German Alps Festival, Hunter Mountain, NY - Page NN |
The German Alps Festival was held at Hunter Mountain Resort. There were not too many vendors but the entertainment was great and the area is beautiful. I took the Skyride to the top of the mountain to get a better view of the area. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. The day was mostly cloudy, hot and humid so the haze did not allow for a good view of the area. It is said that on a clear day one can see the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, the Green Mountains in Vermont and the Catskill Mountains. The Skyride to the Summit is 5500 foot long and the Colonel Chair is 3200 feet above sea level. This one-day tour was with L & M Tours. |

| Taking photos going down was easier since I did not have to turn around to take photos. |

| The project began in the summer of 1995 and will be completed October 12, 2009. The work is done during the summer festivals to allow the public to view the progress. "On waking, he found himself on the Green Knoll..." Washington Irving. |
